The Admissions Office will remain open during normal business hours.
We are here to support you in any way we can. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 252-398-6230 or email@example.com. Our office is working to develop opportunities for prospective students and their families to connect with the Chowan community, and we will share more details as they become available. We appreciate your flexibility as we prioritize the health of our campus community. For more information and ongoing updates about the University’s response to COVID-19, please visit chowan.edu/coronavirus.
During these challenging times, we want to ensure that all qualified applicants have the opportunity to be considered for admission. In response to prior cancellation of SAT and ACT testing dates and the uncertainty of future dates, Chowan University will waive test requirements indefinitely. This means students are encouraged to submit test scores if they have them, but applications without test scores will be considered for admission. This is effective immediately and available to domestic and international students. Students must remember NCAA has its own guidelines for student-athletes to which they must adhere.
Chowan University, grounded in its Christian faith, transforms the lives of students of promise, as her mission.
In an effort to admit students who fit Chowan University, every application is reviewed on an individual basis with emphasis on the applicant's high school grade point average, high school class rank, course curriculum, SAT 1, CLT, and/or ACT score(s), and extracurricular activities, including community service and church involvement. Recommendations and essays are not required but are welcomed.
Many of our students are first-generation college students, which means their parents did not attend college or complete a college degree. Because of Chowan’s commitment to individual attention in a Christian environment, these, and all students thrive at Chowan University. Students will have a personal admissions counselor to assist in navigating each step of the admissions process, including scholarships, financial aid, housing, and class registration.
We strongly encourage all students and their families to visit campus throughout the admissions process. You can schedule a campus visit here.
Chowan University is committed to its responsibility as a liberal arts university within the context of the Christian faith. It seeks to enroll students from a variety of racial, economic, social, religious, and geographic backgrounds.
Chowan University seeks to admit students who are academically qualified for admission, who are compatible with its mission statement, and who will benefit from the academic and social experiences provided by the institution. In addition to being intellectually capable, prospective students should have the level of maturity and self-discipline required to succeed at a 4-year university. Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis. Notifications of admissions decisions are typically made within one week of completion of the applicant’s admissions file.
Each applicant is reviewed on an individual basis with emphasis on the applicant’s grade point average, high school rank, course curriculum, SAT 1, ACT score(s), and/or CLT (Classical Learning Test) scores, and extracurricular activities, both inside and outside of school.
